WE WERE THERE

In 2001, Austin Chandelier Service's founder, Jake McCoy, owned a "healthy home" allergen remediation company called
"Interior Detailing Services" and was a preferred vendor for the Texas Film Commission. Jake had worked on the first two Spy Kids films, and provided a variety of specialty cleaning services for film locations with extreme dust/pollen/mold problems.

In early 2001, Jake was asked to inspect a film location in a rural farming community near Austin, Texas. The location was a large circa 1900's Texas style Belle Opique family farmhouse that had sat largely abandoned since the 1950's. Nature had gradually moved in and taken over.

Mr. McCoy was initially hired to conduct a series of studies to determine what remediation services would be required to make the structure safe in every way to allow a commercial film to be shot at the location.

The client wanted the house to look exactly the same as it was, yet be a healthy environment.

Jake and his crew spent many months performing a wide range of specialized services to fulfill the clients request for minimal visual changes. They maintained the property during the filming process to ensure nature refrained from recontaminating the pristine work areas.

Meanwhile, the same type of services were provided at the long abandoned 'Walburg Gin' - where a substantial amount of the film was shot.

When filming was finally completed at the farmhouse, Jake and his team removed all of the generators, HEPA machines, portable air conditioners and all traces of the cast and crew. Jake McCoy was the last person out of the house and ensured it was returned to the owners in better condition than it was found.
